Achilles Rupture Rehab
Since 416 Physio opened in 2022, we have treated 150+ people with Achilles tendon tears. We can confidently say this is more than any other clinic in the Toronto area! It is an easy diagnosis to make, but a very challenging condition to treat.
There aren’t many therapists who treat this injury often enough to be fully confident in helping you get back to your activities safely and confidently. This is exactly why you need to seek specialized care.
Our attention to detail, understanding of the intricacies of this injury, compassion, and level of expertise sets us apart. In addition, we use force plates to track objective data regarding strength, imbalances, symmetry and compensation patterns, shock absorption, reaction time etc. This provides immediate visual feedback, as well as quantifies the progress in your rehabilitation. Consistency, patience and hard work are essential components of the recovery process.
At 416 Physio, we will create a step-by-step progressive strengthening program, so you can return to all the activities and sports you enjoyed before.

We offer virtual appointments if in-person sessions are not an option. We have provided successful rehabilitation from day one that was completed virtually! The hybrid model is also a common choice for our patients. It offers more flexibility if time and difficulty getting to the clinic every week is an issue. However, it still provides the option to get objective testing and hands-on treatment if needed.
-
The earlier the better! Most of our patients start within the first few weeks post-injury/surgery.
-
Ideally 1-2x a week, and 2x a month in the later stages. The initial assessment is 60 minutes and follow-up sessions are 30 minutes. We don’t use any aids, all your time will be spent with your therapist one-on-one.
-
It is quite a long journey! Most people stay in physio for 6-12 months, but the tendon will keep getting stronger even after that. The length of rehabilitation also depends on your specific goals.
-
We use a battery of tests specific to your sport, as well as force plate measurements of your strength, coordination and ground reaction forces during different strength and jumping drills. We also spend time working through “mental blocks” if there are any!
